Why We Should Have Holidays.

Opinions of Why We Should Have Holidays?

We should have holidays so we can relax our mind from all the dramatic problems that relate from home, school and mostly work.

TIMEOUT! Time out is one the most common activity  used as leisure time to relax. It is a time where you don’t have to think about school or work. It is a time where you can go on a vacation to another place or even overseas. Or if you are a parent you can take your children somewhere nice for example: a park.

REST! Rest is another common activity used regularly or even every day during holidays. It is important for everyone  to improve their body for the next day, especially their brain. It also gives them more time to sleep in and feel more relaxed. Resting also gives your brain a time to restore information forgotten, replaces chemicals lost from your body  and solves problems.

De-Stressing! De-stressing is a time to stop stressing out. It gives you a time to calm down. It is also a time to give yourself a mini vacation from problems from school, work and most probably home. De-stressing also means to become less stressed or anxious.

As a consequence holidays helps you to regenerate your body, your mind and especially your health. Make sure you enjoy your holiday, Smile and Be Happy.

Communication

I think my comment is awesome because I got to communicate with Siaosi's blog post. I was very positive in the way I commented saying,"Siaosi this a great blog about the history of the Commonwealth Games. Now I know a lot more about the Commonwealth Games.". I said this comment because his story helped me with my subject of the Commonwealth Games.

My Prior Knowledge of the Commonwealth Games

The Commonwealth Games is a sporting event for certain countries including New Zealand, Australia, England, and many more.
These countries include athletes with special talents. These athletes face challenges such as competing in their sporting events  against other competitors and trying not to get disqualified. These sporting events include tracking and fielding.

My New Knowledge of the Commonwealth Games

In 1930 the very first Commonwealth Games were held in Canada Hamilton where 11 countries sent 400 athletes (altogether) who participated in 59 sporting events. Since then the Commonwealth Games has been held every four years (except 1942 and 1946 because of the Second World War).

From 1930 to 1966 the games were called The British Empire Games. 1966 to 1970 the Games changed to the British Empire and Commonwealth Games. (In 1966 the Commonwealth Games were held in Kingston and in 1970 the British Empire Games were held in Edinburgh). Between 1970 to 1974 the Games’ name changed to the British Commonwealth Games. (In 1974 the Games was held in Christchurch). Finally, from 1978 onwards the games were called the Commonwealth Games. ( In 1978 the Commonwealth Games were held in  Edmonton).

The sports that are held in the Commonwealth Games are Volleyball, Netball, Rugby Sevens, Soccer, Lifesaving, Wrestling Judo, Taekwondo, Swimming, Boxing, Synchronized Swimming and many more sporting events. A lot of athletes fail and achieve. Some athletes fail because they’re not so good, not so fast, don’t have much accuracy, do not have much stamina, don’t have much strength to carry on. Some athletes achieve their goal and win because they can keep up their stamina, strength, accuracy, they are the fastest, they are very good, and they know that their training will help them to achieve.

Evaluation

My size of my prior knowledge was of a minimal amount. I knew very little about the Commonwealth Games but in my present knowledge I know a lot more information  because I researched it.

When I go to Tamaki College, I learn in Digital Technologies. The maori word for Technology is Hangarau. I have to use the kioure and the Papa Patihi to log into the Rorohiko.  At school I use a Rorohiko Ponaho. We use the ipurangi to log into the Pae Tukutuku for digital technology. We have to check the Maramataka to see what our tasks are for the day.Sometimes our teacher sends us messages on the Imera. Sometimes our teacher uses her Waea Pukoro to give us dojo points or to take photos of us. www.maoridictionary.co.nz

My Awesome Transport

What goes up and lands at the airports? What speeds across water and stops at wharfs and jetties? What goes at amazing speeds on rails and stops at stations? What always makes lots of traffic in the morning and the afternoon? That’s right!... Transport!! Cars, trains, boats, planes and many more. These are the most common transport that are used throughout the whole world. Many people use these types of transports and they never seem to get any sleep.

I used a lot of transport and it felt easier and safer. My most common transportation in the holidays was a car. It is a Subaru Impreza. It is a station wagon with turbo and it is standard. It is just the right size for a family of five.

One day we were late for a family meeting and we just got there in time. On the way we were travelling at a speed of almost 100 kilometers per hour because it was important. We got there and my heart was racing but I thought to myself that we were lucky to make it in time. When we drove back we drove like we were snails. I felt safer and relaxed driving at this pace.

The least common transport I used in the holidays was a bike. I have a little BMX bike and it is kind of similar to a Matt Hoffman bike but a smaller version. I decided to go for a bike ride to the Mountain so I asked my cousin if he wanted to tag along and he agreed. We geared up, helmets and all. We started our joyride. We started at a steady pace and started picking it up.
